For San Jose area residents IPL fotofacial is a popular and effective technology to improve skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and sun damage. In the following blog we discuss how this treatment can help restore fresh and youthful skin.

Sciton BBL Photofacial

Why IPL Photoreguvenation or Photofacial:

At Orchid Medispa, our Sciton BBL photo-rejuvenation treatments are a non–invasive alternative for addressing a variety of skin conditions on face or off face (chest, hands and neck) such as:

o    Sun damage

o    Age spots

o    Rosacea

o    Broken capillaries

o    Brown spots

IPL is an effective way to address these blemishes, safely and without damaging surrounding healthy skin.

How does IPL Photofacial work?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. The treatment involves application of light energy through an advanced cooled applicator. Areas or zones on the skin that have darkened or lightened so that they stand out more against your regular skin tone are know as hyperpigmentation. They are a natural reaction from skin cells deep within the epidermis to sun damage as it’s occurring.  By selecting the appropriate wavelength or filter, the physician will be able to treat a broad range of skin conditions caused by skin aging and sun exposure. The light energy delivered by the BBL gently heats the upper layers of the skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas coagulates tissue to variable depth. This process helps restore the skin to its natural stage. In addition, the photothermal energy targets and eliminates many of the fine vessels that cause redness and the unwanted melanin responsible for pigmented lesions.  Used of large area cooled applicator with independent control of light energy and cooling allows for effective treatment with low to no discomfort.  Patients may experience mild redness in the treated area immediately after treatment and this will last only a short time. Since the Photo therapy procedure is non-invasive, there is no downtime,  so you can resume your normal activities immediately following treatment It is can be performed on any area of the body including: face, neck, hands and arms.

Common questions our clients from San Jose and Santa Cruz have about IPL Potofacial are answered below:

  • Pain threshold             : feels like a rubber band snapping or slight sting
  • Duration of treatment  : depends on area. Typically an half hour for face per session.
  • Number of treatments: typically 2-5 treatments recommended for best results.
  • Downtime                    : some redness a few hours post treatment (depending of amount of work done)
Sun-screen recommended after treatment. No downtime for most people

Why select Orchid Medispa?

  • Effective
  • No down-time
  • Visible results
  • Restore younger fresher look by treating age and sun spots

How much does Photofacial cost?

Cost varies geographically, if the treatment is administered by a physician or a nurse, the choice of technology (pain and efficacy factors) and how long the treatment takes (area and technology used) to administer. For a physician administered BBL technology our price is $250 for a half hour treatment at the time this article is published.  Using large spot size and cooled applicator, the Sciton BBL technology we use allows for IPL Photofacials to be both quick and comfortable.
